A carefully prepared personal, medical and dental history form is given to you on your first visit. This form allows me to appraise clients general health and plays an important factor in providing safe periodontal treatment. From this information we can formulate a dental hygiene diagnosis and a dental hygiene treatment plan.
A thorough extra and intra oral examination will be followed by measuring “pockets” between teeth and the gum. Every client receives a visual oral cancer examination at every appointment. I will identify any deviations from normal discuss it with clients, and then make referrals to the appropriate health care providers. The assessment includes a complete charting of the healthy condition of your mouth, advice and co-ordination of any advanced intervention care, tips and advice with home oral care including new products.
Teeth Cleaning
A healthy mouth with pink gums and white teeth not only looks appealing, but is also a sign of good health. Healthy gums and teeth are an integral part of overall health. Gum disease is one of the body’s most common infectious diseases, slowly and silently destroys gum tissue and bone, which may contribute to other health conditions such as heart disease, stroke, pneumonia, diabetes, premature and low birth weight babies. With both manual hand scaling instruments and ultrasonic instruments, we achieve perfectly clean teeth surfaces. All instruments are meticulously sterilized between clients and kept in great condition.

Protective Sports Mouthguard
Mouthguards are recommended for any one involved in sport and a properly fitted custom mouthguard is an important investment for your teeth that can be professionally made to suit the demands of the sport and the athlete. They generally covers the upper teeth and offers protection for the teeth, alveolar bone and soft tissue. Mouthguards protect your teeth from chipping or cracking and dislodgement. They have been proven to help prevent more serious injuries from occurring by preventing the lower jaw from making contact with the upper jaw.

Oral Cancer Examination
Every client receives a through oral cancer screening. Early stages of oral cancer are often asymptomatic and if not discovered early the chances of surviving it diminish significantly. Most early signs of oral cancer are painless. Referrals to appropriate health care providers will be made promptly.
Pit and Fissure Sealant
Dental sealants are a clear, acrylic-like material that helps shield out decay-causing bacteria from the chewing surfaces of the back teeth or molars. The tiny nooks and crannies on the chewing surface of molars are called pits and fissures. These grooves are so deep and narrow that a toothbrush cannot completely keep them clean. Tiny bits of food and bacteria can hide in pits and fissures and cause cavities. Children’s teeth are particularly susceptible to decay because their tooth enamel has not reached its full hardness. Pit and fissure sealants provide a way to protect those vulnerable molars from early decay. Sealants are applied around age six when the first adult molars are fully erupted in the mouth.
